Mount Union claims fourth straight OAC titlePurple Raiders rally to claim championship04/26/08 ![]() WILMINGTON — Mount Union rode the wave of a solid second day to win its fourth straight Ohio Athletic Conference title Saturday at the OAC Championships at Wilmington College's Beckett Track and Field Facility. The Purple Raiders finished with 183 points to defeat runner-up Ohio Northern by 20.5 points. Heidelberg was third with 107 points, and was followed by Baldwin-Wallace (82), Wilmington (76.50), Marietta (44), John Carroll (38), Muskingum (32), Capital (32) and Otterbein (22). One of the day's highlights was provided by Mount Union's Dan Gund, who shattered the OAC shot put record with a toss of 59 feet. Gund, who also won the discus, was named the meet's Most Outstanding Field Athlete. Ohio Northern's Jimmy O'Brien powered to wins at 800 and 1,500 meters and was named the Most Outstanding Distance Runner. Ohio Northern's Ryan Robertson won at 100 and 200 meters to earn the Most Outstanding Sprinter award. Mount Union's coaches received the Coaching Staff of the Meet award.
