Terry Chesney strokes to a fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle.
Wilmington College dropped a 122-75 decision to Wittenberg in a non-conference dual meet at the WC Natatorium Saturday afternoon.
“We went to the longer format today, which is not our strong suit right now. Plus, we swam a very good team from Wittenberg,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said.
Josh Ward (Sidney) and Terry Chesney (North Olmsted) were part of a strong showing by the WC sprinters, finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the 100 freestyle.
“Terry had a great day. Josh continues to swim well,” Breen said. “Freshman Cody Skinner is getting better every week. We have a lot of young guys on this team, and they are making improvement each time we compete.”
John Creech (Dayton/Centerville) touched third in the 800 freestyle and the 200 butterfly. Dustin Anderson (West Chester/Lakota West) finished third in the 200 backstroke.
The Quakers will have a break from competition until Ohio Wesleyan comes to town for a Dec. 14 dual.
“We need the break. This gives us a couple weeks to focus. We’re in a position now where, academically, things are going to get challenging for these kids,” Breen said. “These are a couple weeks that we need to really get some quality work done. We can’t always be preparing for meets. We need time to work with them on an individual basis to fix some things.”
