Kin named OAC Player of the WeekSenior climbs to No. 8 on WC scoring list01/18/10
AUSTINTOWN — Wilmington College senior post Kortney Kin has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Kin (Upper Sandusky/Riverdale) averaged 23 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last week as the Lady Quakers dropped a tight game at Capital and defeated Marietta. A 2009 All-American, Kin ranks second in the conference scoring race (18.8 ppg) and ninth with 7.3 rebounds per contest. Kin has scored 1,342 points to rank No. 8 on the WC all-time scoring list. “Kortney got off to, for her, a slow start, but has improved throughout the year. Now, she is playing as well as she ever has,” Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve said. Kin’s other statistics, however, are what show her growth as a player, Scheve said. In the Lady Quakers’ win over Marietta, the senior handed out five assists and blocked three shots. “Her improvement this year has come in those other areas. She’s rebounding the ball better at both ends. She’s passing the ball much better than she was earlier in the year, which coincides with making better decisions. She’s playing at a very high level right now,” Scheve said.
