Sheets tabbed All-OACJunior center fielder is honorable mention selection05/03/09
AUSTINTOWN — Wilmington College junior center fielder Cory Sheets has been named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Team, the league office announced today.
Sheets (Wanamaker, Ind./Franklin Central) for a second straight year was an honorable mention selection. “Cory just had a tremendous season, offensively and defensively,” Wilmington head coach Beth Floyd said. “She proved, on a game-to-game basis, that she is one of the top players in our conference. She also is a tremendous leader for our team. She has a tremendous work ethic.” Sheets led the Quakers with a .396 batting average and also topped the squad in hits (40), doubles (8) and slugging percentage (.495). On the bases, she swiped six bases in seven attempts and played error-free ball in center field with 32 putouts in as many attempts. “We are very excited about next year’s team,” Floyd said. “A lot of that excitement comes from the knowledge that Cory will be a senior leader. She loves to compete. She is a winner.”
