AUSTINTOWN — Wilmington College freshman Kristen Deutsch is the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced today.

Deutsch (Beavercreek) collected wins in the 800-meter freestyle and 200 backstroke during Wilmington’s dual meet with Wittenberg on Saturday.

“Kristen gets better every week. She is gaining confidence as she goes along,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said. “As a coach, you wish all the kids came in with confidence, but Kristen’s is coming with her improved performances. She is awesome in practice, and that obviously translates in the meets. She just has a ton of up side.”

Deutsch is the second Quaker in the past three weeks to receive OAC weekly honors. Teammate Julie Creech (Dayton/Centerville) was named the OAC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 2.
